ROYAL TAN RESUMES

May Race At National Meeting Special to the Daily Times CHRISTCHURCH, May 10. Royal Tan, who came back last week to C. G. Humphries's stable after a spell in the North Island, 'is now a regular visitor to the tracks. He is carrying a lot of condition and is in excellent health to start on a preparation. His trainer hopes to have him ready for a race at the Grand National meeting to help him on the way to his best condition for the New Zealand Cup. which may be his chief objective in the spring. J. S. Shaw had some bad luck yesterday, when he lost Cue, who dropped dead while running in a paddock at Shaw’s place, where he had been resting for about 10 days. He was a three-year-old by Finis from the Nigger Minstrel mare Patter, a member of the Gossip family, which Bobrikoff made famous. Cue was raced by his breeder, Mr W. A. lorns, of Wellington, and his only win was at Waimate a few weeks ago. He was of an excitable temperament and heart trouble probably was the cause of his death. Though Resolute Is an acceptor for the Amberley Handicap, L. J. Ellis has not definitely decided on his programme. The gelding was lame after he won at Ashburton and though he is on the mend, his trainer has not made up his mind yet about the Amberley engagement.
