CALL AT AUCKLAND

Canadian Pacific Airlines REQUEST FOR LANDING RIGHTS Eec. 10 p.m. SYDNEY, May 9. Canadian Pacific Airlines hoped to be able to call at Auckland within a few weeks instead of flying direct to Sydney from Fiji; said Mr H. B. Main, manager of CPA, before he left for Vancouver today. Mr Main said CPA would not carry passengers between New Zealand and Australia and would not compete with Tasman Empire Airways. “All we want are landing rights and permission for our passengers to stay over at Auckland as they are able to do at Honolulu,” Mr Main said. He expected that British Commonwealth Pacific Airlines and Pan-American Airways would follow suit if the New Zealand Government granted landing rights.
