FIRE IN TIMBER MILL
PA NAPIER, May 9. Heat generated by the effect of rain on a huge pile of sawdust and waste material is believed responsible for a fire which broke out in the Maungataniwha Timber Company’s mill at Kotemaori, 45 miles north of Napier, at 4 o’clock this morning. By 1.30 this afternoon the danger to the buildings had subsided, while bulldozers breaking up a stock of rubbish allowed firemen from the Napier brigade to reach the seat of the flames. It is not expected that the brigade will return to Napier before tomorrow morning.
