SPECIAL TRAIN
First Test Match In Dunedin
Reporting on ills negotiations with the Railways Department, Mr F. V. Dennehy stated at the meeting of the Rugby Union on Monday night that the time table for the special train to the first test match in Dunedin had been altered. It would now leave Oamaru at 7.30 a.m. and arrive at Dunedin at 10.55 a.m., as had been suggested by the members of the union at its previous meeting. The capacity ol the train at the present time, he added, would be 453 persons. The secretary. Mr J. Corlett, stated that in reply to a letter from the Otago Union with respect to booking space for school children in the enclosure he had asked that space for 300 schoolboys and masters be reserved for North Otago. Mr D. S. Loder stated that the majority of these bo£s intended travelling by train. Mr Dennehy added that several of the compartments in die train had already been reserved, and if all the schoolboys travelled by train there would be very little accommodation left for the football public, and early booking would be advisable. Mr Dennehy was again instructed to approach the Railways Department to determine the accommodation available on the train. The disposal of the 25 seats offered bv the Otago Union was discussed, and Mr R. L. Brown’s motion that one be allocated to each member of the union (14), the North Otago Referees’ Association (2), the four teams in the town senior Rugby competition (2 each), and the Waitaki Sub-union president (1) was carried. It was decided to write to the Canterbury Rugby Union asking for an allocation of 20'seats for the second test at Christchurch.
