HEAVY-WEIGHT TITLE
Enforced Boxing Bout Suggested NZPA—Copyright Rec. 7.38 p.m. NEW YORK, May -8. The winner of the Lee Savold-Bruce Woodcock fight should be forced to meet Ezzard Charles to decide the universal heavy-weight championship, said Britain’s leading boxing official, Mr J. Onslow Fane, chairman of the British Board of Boxing Control, and president of the European Boxing Union, today. Mr Fane said: “ Having two champions is very stupid. The winner should be forced into the ring against Charles if he is fit. Then the winner of that bout would be universally recognised as world champion.”
