Prospects Of Closing The Dollar Gap BRITISH EXPERT’S VIEW NZPA Special Correspondent Rec. 10 p.m. LONDON, May 8. Sir Cecil Weir, chairman of the Dollar Export Board, said on his return from a visit to the United States that he considered the prospects of closing the dollar gap were now "quite promising.” Sir Cecil said he had found in the United States growing appreciation of the importance of the campaign for narrowing and finally closing the gap by increasing exports to the dollar areas from the United Kingdom. Europe, and the sterling area generally. Americans were impressed by the efforts being made by British firms and many British exporters were working very actively in the United States.
