DUNTROON FOOTBALL
In a closely-contested match in the Waitaki Rugby Sub-union’s competition, played at Duntroon on Saturday, Duntroon beat Omarama by 11 points to 8. Duntroon's success was due to the fact that it made the better use of the opportunities offering. Omarama opened its scoring with a goal from a penalty, kicked by Martin. The score was evened shortly after, when McCallum scored for Duntroon following a ruck. Omarama established an B—3 lead, which it held until half time, when Cameron scored and Martin converted.
Duntroon took up the attack in the second half, and after a break-through by the forwards. Fridd scored near ( the posts. G. Johnston placed Duntroon in the lead when lie scored a try, which was converted by L. Peterson. Although the score remained unchanged until the end of the game, Duntroon had the better of the exchanges. For Omarama, Martin, McAughtrie and G. Peterson were prominent, while R. Bell, of Duntroon, dominated the line outs. The previous Saturday Duntroon beat Kurow by 33 points to 11.
