ACCESS TO DR FUCHS
American Security Police GRANTED BY BRITAIN NZPA—Copyright WASHINGTON, Rec. 6.30 p.m. 5. British and United States authorities are reported to be in disagreement over the question of access by Federal Bureau of Investigation officers to Dr Klaus Fuchs, who is now serving a 14-year sentence in London for violating the Official Secrets Act. It is understood that the British authorities are prepared to allow access sufficient for the FBl’s avowed purpose of probing the atomic spy situation, but the FBI is reported to be unwilling to accept limited access. A message from London says a Home Office official confirmed today Washington reports that Britain had agreed to let American security police question Fuchs in prison. “ The United States Government recently asked for special facilities to question Fuchs freely about his activities and these have been granted in view of the exceptional circumstances of the case,” the official said.
