LEADING TWO-YEAR-OLD
HONOURS WITH MAINBRACE Mainbrace proved his superiority over other two-year-olds in the Dominion when he won the Great Northern Foal Stakes at Ellerslie on Monday after being hopelessly placed with half the journey covered. Mainbrace was opposed by the best two-year-olds from the Wellington district as well as Pastel, the leading youngster in the South Island. Mainbrace has had four starts for a third and three wins and £2950 in (Stakes. Heis a chestnut colt by Admiral's Luck from Maneroo, by Siegfried from Haligan, by Hallowmas from Bonny Helen, by Bonl. form from Helen Portland, by Dorchester. Haligan is also the granddam of Leigh Hark and Erinmore. Mainbrace is owned by Dr T. Fraser and trained by J. L. McDonald at Te AwamutU. His future racing will be followed with interest.
