WIN FOR LOGAN
CHRISTMAS BOWLING TOURNAMENT EXCITING MATCH The final of the Dunedin Bowling Centre’s Christmas Pairs tournament was won yesterday by A. Logan and M. Matheson, of the Opoho club. They defeated R. A. Honeyman and M. Finlay (Otago), 17-12. Fortunes fluctuated in this match right through to the last head and the large gallery was kept at a constant pitch of excitement. At the fourteenth the pairs were even. The Opoho pair drew away on the next two heads, however, and although the young Otago players immediately reduced their deficit, Logan proved too strong in the remaining ends and went on to win by a safe margin. • This was a highly creditable performance by Honeyman and Finlay, for both have been playing bowls for three seasons only. In the semi-final, Honeyman beat G. Pope (Caledonian) 11-10, and Logan beat W. Lloyd (Caledonian) 18-3.
