SHEFFIELD SHIELD CRICKET NZPA—Copyright MELBOURNE. Rec. 11.30 p.m. Dec. 23. Victoria beat New South Wales by five wickets in the Sheffield Shield match, which ended today. Victoria has now taken the lead in the shield competition. South Australia defeated Queensland in the Sheffield Shield match by 88 runs on the first innings. The Queensland captain. Brown, was unlucky to miss a century by six runs.
