BRIDGE OR TUNNEL ACROSS BOSPHOROUS ISTANBUL GOVERNOR’S PLAN NZPA—Copyright Rec. 9.10 p.m. LONDON, Dec. 28. The Istanbul correspondent of The Times says the new Governor of Istanbul, Dr Fahredin Gokay, said in a speech that he was studying plans submitted by a foreign company for the construction of either a bridge or a tunnel across the Bosphorous, and he hoped the project might be realised in the near future.
The project of linking' Europe and Asia by a bridge or tunnel has bee'n recurring periodically for over 30 years, but either for financial or military reasons has never been seriously examined in the past.
