PINEAPPLE SUPPLIES
MALAYA SEEKS WORLD TRADE Malaya is rapidly getting into her stride as a world pineapple producer. Mr C. E. Courtenay, adviser to the Malayan pineapple industry, said indications are that world conditions are favourable for this trade. In Canada, Malaya’s best customer, pineapple is the most popular of canned fruits, although the retail price is about three times the pre-war average. Next year. Malaya is expected to produce about 36,000,000 tins of pineapples. Pre-war. the yearly production was about 120,000,000 tins.—Reuter —Singapore.
