CHAMPIONSHIPS CONTINUED The North Otago Lawn Tennis Association’s Christmas tournament was advanced a stage further yesterday, when several events were completed. Fine conditions were experienced. A surprise occurred when the South Canterbury player, P. McLaughlan, was defeated Dy O. E. Laney (North Otago) in the second round of the Men's Championship Singles. Laney went on to win the title from M. Hendy (Waimate), the score in the final being 2—6. 9—7, 6—3. The Otago Nunneley Casket players, Misses C. Neave and M. Pyle, fought out the final of the Women’s Championship Singles, Miss Neave reversing last year s decision by beating Miss Pyle 6 —l. B—6.
