OPENING DAY AT WESTPORT PA WESTPORT, Dec. 27. The Westport Trotting ' Club’s annual meeting, atter a postponement yesterday, opened in unfavourable weather. The track was in good order and there was a fair crowd. The totalisator handled £20,209, compared with £26,413 10s last year. On the doubles totalisator, 756 10s tickets were purchased on the first leg winner, Springbok, but only 753 were handed in the Gothard Handicap, which was wo n by Almeta. The dividend was £2os 5d for a pound. The winner of the final event, Ture Comrade, paid £lO9 14s 6d on the win machine. Results;— Pain Handicap, of £2OO.
