FORTUNATE ESCAPE
YOUNG MOTOR CYCLIST THROWN FORTY FEET Special to the Daily Times BALCLUTHA, Dec, 26., A young motor cyclist was catapulted about 40ft and narrowly missed striking an iron telegraph pole when his machine collided with a stationary car on the main road between Clinton and Balclutha yesterday afternoon. The cyclist. John L. W. Jury, aged 19, of Clinton, was knocked unconscious, and, suffering from shock and leg injuries, he was taken to the Balclutha Hospital, where he did not regain consciousness until to-day. Later his condition was reported to be satisfactory. The driver of the stationary vehicle was beside his car at the time of the collision, inspecting the engine.
