MAYOR FOUND GUILTY
BRIBERY AND CORRUPTION NZPA—Copyright COLOMBO, Dec. 23. A special commission found the Mayor of Colombo, Mr R. F. S. de Mel, guilty of 11 charges of bribery and corruption in connection with the mayoral elections of 1945 and, 1947, says the Associated Press. The commission also found nine other members of the Colombo Municipal Council guilty of either soliciting or receiving bribes. All will lose their civic rights for five years.
