BOWLING AND CRICKET MATCHES AT ALEXANDRA Special to the Daily Times ALEXANDRA, Dec. 26. The Alexandra Bowling Club's annual Christmas tournament was commenced with the Singles on Saturday. The Fours commenced to-day. The entries were on a par with recent years and the Clyde green was used for a section in the Singles. The club president, Mr J. H. McKellar, declared the tournament opened and welcomed the visitors, many of whom were competing in the tournament for the first time. The Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr Bodkin, who is a patron and a life member of the club, also extended a welcome. Results of play:— Singles

CRICKET The annual match between Vincent and Maniototo was played at Alexandra on Saturday. Maniototo batted first on a dif-, ficult wicket and the whole side was out for 70. J. D. Blakely 33 and Provan 12 were the only double-figure scorers. Bowling for Vincent, Johns took five for 15 and Cameron three for 29. Vincent, faced with the task of making only 70 runs, collapsed badly, the whole side being out for 35. Of this total, O’Brien made 30, while the rest of the side could muster only 5 among them. Bowling for Maniototo, Macassey took five for 14 and McSkimming five for 9. Maniototo went In again to bat and made 179 for eight wickets. J. C. Kearney, the ex-All Black, attacked aggressively and made a half-century. Macassey was 49 not out and J. D. Blakely made 34. Bowling for Vincent, Mount took four for 53 and Fenwick two for 23. Maniototo were all out at 6.10 pm.. Vincent, with only 20 minutes in which to make 200 runs, decided not to bat, and Maniototo won on the first innings. B Grade
