COMPANY INCOME
Companies with assessable incomes of less than £IOOO constituted 45.9 per cent, of the total number of companies assessed for income tax during the 1948-49 assessment year. This is shown in official figures just released. These companies received 3.5 per cent, of the total assessable income. At the other end of the scale, 85 companies out of a total of 12,482 had incomes of £IOO,OOO and over and received 34.4 per cent, of the assessable income. Companies which showed a net loss for the year represented 11.9 per cent, of the total number of assessments.
