South Otago Federation
The half-yearly council meeting of the South Otago Federation of Women's Institutes was held at Stirling recently. Mrs Mathieson, president, occupied the chair, and welcomed visitors from the mid-Otago and Eastern Southland Federations and over 100 delegates and members. A special welcome was extended to delegates from the recently-formed institute at Chaslands. Mrs Mathieson gave a short address on “ Citizenship ” in the morning, and in the afternoon the speaker was Mr D. O. W. Hall, director of. adult education in the University of Otago, who gave an address on ’’ World Affairs.” Mrs Judd, Dominion Council representative, was returned unopposed for a further two years. A ” good service ” badge was presented to Mrs O. M. Cross, of Warepa, who has been both treasurer and secretary of the federation. Mrs McDougall, Crookston, gave an interesting display of handcrafts, a sketch was given by members of the Clinton Institute, and items were given by the Stirling Ladies’ Choir. ,
