HANDICAP COMPETITIONS The Kiwi Amateur Swimming Club continued its handicap competitions at. the Municipal Baths last night. The following were the results:— 25 Yards Backstroke (under 10).—Girls. Mary Jarvis (scr) 1. Carol Williams (4sec) 2; time. 25sec. Boys: Chris. Reid 1; time, 29sec. 33 1-3 Yards Backstroke (under 12). Girls: L. Mouat (2sec) 1, Mary Jarvis (2sec) 2, K. Ayshford (scr) 3; time, 29sec. Boys: G. Payne (2sec) 1, Colin Reid (ssec) 2, J. Welsh (4sec) 3: time, 35sec. 33 1-3 Yards Backstroke (under 14). Girls: A. Douslas (Bsec) 1, F. Tremaine (scr) 2: time, 31sec.. Boys: C. Mowat (scr) 1, N. Wallace (4sec) 2, Colin Reid (2sec) 3; time, 30 4-ssec.
A fire In the kitchenette of a house in Brighton street, Kaikorai was extinguished yesterday morning by two machines from the Roslyn and Central branches of the Ciiy Fire Brigade before any serious harm had been done. The blaze was believed to have been caused by a leak in the gas system.
