Death Of Former British Home Secretary
LONDON, Oct. 24.
The death has occured of Mr John Robert Clynes, formerly Secretary of State for Home Affairs in Mr J. Ramsay MacDonald’s Labour Government of 1929-31.
Mr Clynes was chairman of the Parliamentary Labour Party in 1921-22 and was Lord Privy Seal and Deputy Leader of the House of Commons in 1924. He was Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Food in 1917-18, and Food Controller in 1918-19. He was in his eighty-first year.
