PETROL DEARER IN BRITAIN

Rec. 8 p.m. LONDON, Oct. 25. The Minister of Fuel, Mr H. T. N. Gaitskell, announced in the House of Commons to-day that the present basic patrol ration would be continued at the present rate for the next ration period—December to May. From tomorrow, British motorists will have to pay 2s 3d a gallon for petrol—an increase of 2£d. The increase is said to be the result of sterling devaluation.
