New Dental School Approved
Cabinet has given its approval to a start being made with the preparation of working drawings of the proposed new National Dental School in Dunedin. This information was contained in a telegram received yesterday by Mr P. G. Connolly, M.P., from the Minister of Education, Mr McCombs. The estimated cost of the new school is £252,000.
This approval virtually means that the work on the pew school will now go ahead. Mr McCombs gave his approval of the project last year, but the question of priorities was then involved. Now, the new school has become a No. 1 priority on the list of such works.
It is proposed that the school will be a four-storeyed modern building, providing accommodation for 200 students, and possessing adequate research facilities. Present intentions are that’ the new school will be built adjacent to the present Dental School in King street.
