CHAMPIONSHIP TRIALS OTAGO WINS CORNHILL SHIELD DUNEDIN ENTRIES PROMINENT There were more than 80 entries in the four events at the New Zealand gun dog championships, which have just been concluded at Berwick. Fine .weather during the championships attracted many spectators, who watched the good allround performances of the dogs during the trials. Comhill Shield The Cornhill Shield is competed for by a team of three dogs from each club, and was won by the Otago Gun Dog Club’s team—R. Penno’s Rex (139 points). R. W. Stanaway’s Wingatui Clay (62) and E. Henderson’s Dark (82) —with a total of 283 points. Other placings were: Southland Gun Dog Club (279 points) 2, Canterbury Gun Dog Club (247) 3, Hutt Valley Gun Dog Club (198) 4.
