WOMEN’S BOWLING
The official opening oP the Phoenix Ladies’ Bowling Club, which was held on Thursday afternoon, was well attended by members and visitors from sister clubs. The acting president, Mrs Hore, declared the season open. Among those present were the Mayoress, Mrs M. F. E. Cooney, and representatives of the Meadowbank, Pukeuri and Awamoa Ladies’ Clubs. The first bowl was rolled up by the patroness, Mrs J. Tait, and the silver kitty by the patroness, Mrs N. Watson.
