The dominions representation includes the Chief Justice for New Zealand. “ Chicken Pox,” Taieri Beach.—A bulletin issued by the Department of Health outlining the regulations for the exclusion from school of pupils and teachers suffering from any infectious disease, or who have been exposed to infection from any infectious disease, contains a list of 13 notifiable diseases. The regulation covering chicken pox provides that the person affected shall be excluded from school for a period of one week after the appearance of the rash. Under the heading “General.” the bulletin states: ”A head teacher will be notified by the health inspector of any infected house from which school children whose names are on the roll must not be allowed to attend.” Teachers should avoid sending messages by any school children to houses of absentees, lest they' should thereby become exoosed to infection. Section 58 of the Education Act, 1914 inter alia, makes it lawful for the teacher of any school to forbid the attendance of any child who may be likely to communicate any contagious (infectious) disease. If the medical officer of health should certify in any special case that the periods of exclusion given above should be extended, teachers are to observe such instructions. “ Taxpayer.”—A copy of your letter was shown to the secretary of the Ettrick Rabbit Board, who replied that the information you require could be obtained by direct communication with the board. “ Kapukatau Mohaka,” North-East Valley.—(l) The central block of the Dunedin Public Hospital consisted of part of the New Zealand International Exhibition, which was held in Dunedin in 1865. From there the line was extended down Falcon street to Kaikorai Valley, but after one car had been run over the line it was condemned as being unsafe. (6) The lever type of gripper was installed on the Roslvn cable tram during the -period the service was conducted by the Roslyn Tram Company, but we are unable to say the date when the installation took place. (7) The Maori Kaik Racing Club used to hold its race meetings on North’s paddock, Lower Portobello. So far as our records show, the club apparently ceased to function after the 1894-5 season.
