TRANSFER OF GERMAN REFUGEES TO EMPIRE COUNTRIES ADVOCATED

Rec. 9 p.m. LONDON, Oct. 14. The transfer of 1,500,000 Germans to countries of the British Commonwealth, and the launching of a “ veritable era of emigration,” with the support of the United States, was advocated by Sir Norman Angeil, the British author and international affairs expert. Sir Norman told a meeting of the Refugees’ Defence Committee that the problem had been discussed with State officials in Washington and with key people in the United States Congress.
Sir Norman is vice-president of the committee, which is a private organisation for the assistance of refugees. He said that 9,000,000 Germans were living in the Western zone of Germany under sub-human and inhuman conditions. If steps were not taken to move the great mass of displaced persons they would become a deadly weapon for Soviet manipulation. “ Immigration is the economic salvation of the Western world,” he added.
