Weekly Wage Increase Demand For Railway Shopmen In Britain
NZPA Special Correspondent Rec. 9 p.m. LONDON, Oct. 14. The . executives of trades unions affiliated to the .Confederation of Shipbuilding and Engineering Unions have decided to demand a £1 weejdy increase in wages for 130,000 railway shopmen. If conceded, the calim will cost about £7,000,000 a year. The Confederation of Shipbuilding and Engineering Unions has already demanded a similar increase for 1,250,000 engineering and shipyard workers. The full cost of all the confederation’s claims, if granted, will be £100,000,000 a year.
