NEW LIBRARIAN

UNIVERSITY OF OTAGO DEPARTURE FROM ENGLAND The new librarian of the Otago University Library, Mr F. H. Rogers, of the Bristol University Library, left England on the Rimutaka on October 7 and is due to arrive in Auckland on November 20 to come to Dunedin to take up his duties. He will take the place of Mr John Harris, who left the position of librarian to take a post in Nigeria. Mr D. C. Dowling has been temporarily in charge of the library. Mr. Rogers has until recently been superintendent of the main and senior libraries of the University of Bristol. From this university he received the degree of M.A. He has been chairman of the Bristol and district division of the Association of Librarians, and has taken a leading part in library work in England. He was on active service with the army from 1940 to 1946, being adjutant to various Iraq levy formations for some time.
