Oamaru v. Invercargill

The brilliant play of John Gillies, top player for Invercargill, and present South Island champion, was the main feature of the return Invercargill-Oamaru squash racquet match played at Oamaru on Saturday night. Gillies won both of his matches in straight sets, defeating M. Gunn and J. Bee. The North Otago No. 1 team beat the visitors bv three matches to one, but the Invercargill team reversed the result when playing the North Otago No 2 team and won by three matches to one. Results (Oamaru names first):— No 1 team.—M. Gunn lost to J. Gillies 4 5—9, 3—9; H. W. Kelk beat E. A. McPhail 9—l, 10—8. 10—8: W. Bee beat H. Wilson 4—9, 10—8, 9—7. 5—9, 9—4: A. I*.
