DEDICATION SERVICE

Memorial To Miss. Jones During the Evensong service at St. Luke’s Church on Sunday night, a vessel for use at Holy Communion was dedicated by the vicar of the parish, the Rev. W. E. D. Davies, in memory of Miss A Jones, late matron of the Oamaru Public Hospital. The vessel, which was inscribed “A faithful worshipper,” was presented by Dr R. Bevan Brown and Sister Olorenshaw, on behalf of the Oamaru Public Hospital, in memory of Miss Jones, who had served as matron from 1940-49. It was received by the church wardens. Dr E. E. Butler and Mr M. H. R. Jones, and was then dedicated by Mr Davies The lessons were read by Drs E.iE. Butler and R. Bevan Brown. Members of the Waitaki Hospital Board, the present matron. Miss Chambers, nurses of the Oamaru Public Hospital in unifprm, and Messrs W. Davies and P. T. Mulligan, and a contingent of the St. John Ambulance Brigade were present at the service. Mr Davies thanked the hospital warmly for its gift.
