NOTES FROM RICCARTON

Special to the Daily Times

CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 26. The supcess of Royal Scrip at the Dunedin meeting was well received at Riccarton. It was the first training win credited to R. J. Hawes, who is in charge of c. G. Humphries’s stable and is very popular with other members of our racing community. C. B. Dawson has taken Marauder in hand again for Mr G. R. Macdonald. This three-year-old, by Foxbrldge—Bird of Prey, had a race last November, after which he was turned out. He has furnished a lot during his spell and now looks a good type for racing later in the season.

A. Cutts has a trip to Trentham in view for Disturbance next month. The intention is to start her in the Wainui Handicap. of one mile, on the first day, after which she will return home, probably to race at the Banks Peninsula and North Canterbury meetings, over the Labour Day week-end. The Defaulter mare has done well since she had her first race of the season at Ashburton.

Magical is bowling along In good style in his work. His Ashburton win showed him to be well forward and he may make his next appearance among the sprinters at Trentham next month.

W. Barr has made a start on the two-year-old colt, by Instinct from Cherry Gundi, by Salmagundi from Silk Paper, a Paper Money mare, a half-sister to Magical.
