WORLD CHAMPION ATHLETE
MRS . BLANKERS-KOEN TO RETIRE Rec. 9 p.m. NEW YORK, May 27. Mrs Fanny Blankers-Koen. the world’s greatest woman athlete, is to retire from the track after the European championships next year. Her husband made this announcement today, adding that Fanny had been tunning in first-class athletics since 1938 and had had a strenuous time since the, Olympics. Mrs Koen .to-day easily won a special 80 Metres Hurdle race held in conjunction with the United States intercollegiate championships. She won in 12 seconds by six yards. She also won a special 200 Metres race in 25.25ec
