PICKLED PELTS
The New Zealand Meat Producrs’ Board advises that the fourth sale for the season of pickled sheep and lamb pelts under the Pelt Regulations, 1949, was held in Wellington on May 25 before a representative bench of buyers. Offerings totalled 157 lots, comprising 53,337 dozen sheep and 176.470 dozen lamb pelts. Prices for sheep pelts were firm on those of last sale, whilst those for lamb pelts improved by approximately 10 per cent. Range of prices for Canterbury and Otago is:— Sheep, 57s 6d to 74s a dozen; lambs, 40s to 50s 6d dozen.
