NASEBY POWER CHARGES

Sir,—lt i s time that the electric power consumers and the Borough Council of Naseby made a vigorous protest as to the antiquated method adopted by the Otago Power Board in collecting its revenue in the Borough. The meters are read once in four months. An approximate account is sent for two' months. That is quite all right. The next two months the reader comes round, reads the meter and presents the account. We used to be able to pay him and receive our discounts. I understand that this method is now stopped, for some reason or other. Now it is only left to us to pay the account to Milton by registered letter or the Bank of New Zealand. Ranfurly. As we have a mail service out and in only three days in the week, this makes our chances of getting our discounts less favourable. My suggestion to the Board is that we pav into our local post office providing, of course, satisfactory arrangements could be made with the postal authorities. I personally have had experience in this direction with the Dunedin City Council. I was supplied with a duplicate receipt book and paid in the money at the ehd of the month. The same could be tried out here.—l am, etc., Consumer.
