HEAVY APPLE DELIVERIES

SMALL SIZES ACCUMULATE AGAIN

A busy week was experienced on the citv fruit marts. Apple deliveries were heavy and there is a steady demand for preferred sizes, but small apples are again accumulating. Supplies of pears have been steady and there has. been a good inquiry. A consignment of Island oranges arrived during the week and a few Island grapefruit came to hand -in fair condition. The demand for tomatoes is confined to dessert varieties and local hothouse have a good inquiry. Heavy consignments of tree tomatoes from Keri-Kerl. were received and values are lqw. Chinese gooseberries, grapes and passion fruit have a steady demand. A few lemons reached the market and these were immediately taken up by retailers. Meyer lemons are keenly sought after. A consignment of pumpkins was landed from the Wainui and arrived on a bare market. Cauliflower prices were lower than those ruling last week and cabbage is in steady supply at prices on a par with those of last week. There was a good demand for leeks and lettuce at the week-end. Carrots, silver beet, parsnips, and Brussels sprouts are in plentiful supply. Celery prices are steady. Range of Prices New Zealand lemons: Town. 255; country, 245; Meyer', 19s; cases extra.
