BUTTERMILK POWDER
SIX-YEAR CONTRACT WITH BRITAIN PA AUCKLAND, May 27. New Zealand will sign a six-year bulk contract with the British Ministry of Food to supply buttermilk powder. During the coming dairy season, which qpens in August, the 18 dairy companies in the Auckland province will produce 200,000 tons of buttermilk powder, and as soon as other companies in Taranaki and Manawatu have installed plant, New .Zealand’s output for Britain will be increased to 600,000 tons a year. Most of the 18 dairy companies in the Auckland province, which are still installing plant, will be ready to start production in August. They notified the New Zealand Dairy Products Marketing Commission this week that they would accept the British Food Ministry offer. The price fixed for buttermilk powder was described to-day as “very satisfactory."
