|A_ «™ COMING MATCH WITH OTAGO S Golf enthusiasts should see same first-class exhibitions at St. Clair in tie; week-end when the inter-provin-' al'match is played between Canterbury and Otago. Canterbury is sending what must be regarded as its strongest team, headed by C. J. Ward, D. L. Woon and J. L. Blair. Ward and Woon will probably be matched against A. Gibbs and T. B. Ferguson. " Woon at the present time is playing at the top of his form. Recently he won-the Victory tournament at Auckland in the amateur section, and last week-end he established a new' course record of 64 at Rawhiti. Ward has 10ng- experience in big golf. Blair is a 5 former Canterbury champion and a Well-known figure at national, championship meetings. '.‘The. Otago side, too, is formidable. Headed by Gibbs, the national amateui champion, and Ferguson, holder of the Otago provincial title and N.Z. Plate, the’ team includes such seasoned men 4s J. A. Scouler, A. H. Boyd—who is On form just now—J. N. Lemon and O. B. Wight, while D. C. Bennie and H. S. Ross will be at home on their own dourse It will be the first time that an interprovincial golf fixture has been played On the St. Clair links.
