UNAUTHORISED GAMES
SUNDAY PLAY IN CITY RESERVES PRACTICE TO BE STOPPED Steps are to be taken by the Reserves Committee of the Cjty Council to prevent the unauthorised use of city playing areas for matches on Sundays. In a report to be presented to the council at its meeting on Monday night, the committee states that complaints have been received from sporting organisations about the use of the city reserves for Sunday games, especially at Logan Park, ■ Bathgate Park, and the Littlebourne Ground. The committee adds that the matches took place at times when the ground conditions were unsuitable, and damage was caused to the turf as a result. Other undesirable features were the consumption of liquor on the grounds and the parking of cars and trucks on the turf. No permission was given for these matches. The committee had given authority for the practice to be stopped. Proceedings would be taken in cases where a breach of the city by-laws occurred.
