AMATEUR BOXING
First-class Bouts Some first-class amateur bouts were seen at tire Opera House on Wednesday night when the Oamaru Amateur Boxing Association held its first tournament of the season. Unfortunately, however, there was no more than a handful of spectators ' present and this no doubt proved discouraging to the promoters of the sport. Twelve bouts in all were staged and the tournament ended in a first-class bout between M. Collings (Oamaru) and Z. Uncovitch (Dunedin). Although Collings was sent to the mat on four occasions Uncovitch by no means had the better of the fight, but he proved to be a stayer and took some severe punishment.
