OTAGO WOMEN’S CLUB
Meeting of Literary Circle - A novel but interesting programme was presented by Mrs J. Malcolm and Miss A. McDougall to members of the Literary Circle of the Otago Women’s Club on Tuesday evening. The programme was entitled ” Letters in Literature,’’ and took the form of the reading of extracts from letters of notable personages, the writers being: St. Paul, Lady Montague, Hannah More, R. L. Stevenson, Walter Page, Queen Victoria, Captain Scott, Jane Carlyle, Lewis Carroll, Kate Greenaway, Charles Lamb, Lord Nelson, Katherine Mansfield, Thomas Carlyle, and J. M. Barrie. Those taking part in the readings were Mesdames Wakefield Holmes, Guthrie, Brodie, Mitchell. J. R. Falrbaim, A. A. Fairbairn, Eadie, Lane. Pritchard, and Wilkin, and Misses Andrew and Elliffe.
Miss N. Alexander, chairwoman of the circle, presided over a good attendance of members.
