SOUTHERN STILL LEADS IN SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP
RUGBY
Southern held its position at the top of the championship table by scoring a comfortable win against Alhambra after a bright display in the early match at Carisbrook on Saturday, when the Otago Rugby Football Union’s senior competition was continued under ideal conditions. Only four games were played, the matches between the two University teams and Dunedin and Training College being postponed until after the vacation. Zingari-Richmond won a rather scrappy game against Kaikorai in the main attraction at Carisbrook. Pirates had a runaway win over Union on the North Ground, and Port Chalmers held Taieri to a draw at Tahuna Park, this being the latter side’s second drawn game in successive weeks.
The results of the days matches were:— Southern 26, Alhambra 5. Zingari-Richmond 14, Kaikorai 3. Pirates 32, Union 3. Taieri 6, Port Chalmers 6.
