HOMING PIGEONS
The Dunedin Homing Pigeon Club held two races on Saturday in favourable weather. In the Christchurch event the winner flew the 192 miles in 4hr 28min at a velocity of 1261 yards a minute. The winning bird in the Ashburton race flew the 149 miles in 3hr 12min at a velocity of 1360 yards a minute. Results:— Christchurch. —P. Paterson’s Dismiss 1, M. Anderson’s Hill Lady 2, V. Robinson’s Phantom 3, A. Fraser's Princess 4, J. Scoullar’s Clipper 5. Ashburton.—P. Paterson’s Gun Metal 1, A. Fraser’s Prince 2, J. Williams’s Nutcracker 3, M. Anderson's Boniform 4, J. Scoullar’s Peanut 5. The club will fiy a nomination race from Ashburton next Saturday.
