NATIONAL CONFERENCE
ANTI-CONSCRIPTION BODY WIDE REPRESENTATION PA WELLINGTON, May i 5. The Peace and Anti-conscription Federation held its second conference in Wellington on Saturday. Delegates from the district councils of the federation attended from all over New Zealand and also included were representatives from trades and labour councils. Organisations represented on a national basis were the New Zealand Waterside Workers’ Union, the New Zealand Carpenters and Joiners’, the New Zealand Tramway Workers, the New Zealand Communist Party, the New Zealand Peace Union, the New Zealand Student Labour Federation, the New Zealand Federation of Young People’s Clubs, and the national executive of the Democratic Labour Party. . , . These organisations alone have a membership of some 25.000. This conference concerned itself essentially with immediate ways and means of organising a feeling throughout the country in opposition to peacetime conscription.
