MASTER DORSET HAS BEEN CONSISTENT HORSE

Master Dorset has won four of his five most recent races and is sure to be one of the favourites for the Marconi Handicap at Auckland to-day. He started the season by winning a division of the Hikutaia Handicap, of one mile and a-half, at the Thames meeting in August.. He won easily by three lengths. His next race was in the Eastbrook Handicap, of one mile and a-quarter. at the Wanganui meeting in October, and he finished outside a place through being interfered with. On the second day of the same meeting, however, he won the Moutoa Handicap, of one mile and a-quarter. Taken to the Cambridge meeting in January, he had the easiest of wins in the Cambridge Summer Handicap, of two miles, and he followed this up with another win in the R. T. Reid Memorial Handicap, of two miles, at the Waikato meeting. He went 4min 23 l-ssec from a 4min 40sec mark. Trained by E. N. Kennerley at Te Awamutu. Master Dorset is a stable-mate of Single Direct. He is a. five-year-old gelding by Raider from Miss Dorset Jottings Beckleigh is close to winning form, and the Dillon Hall pacer is likely to pay excenses at the Auckland meeting. Silent Knight has been scratched for the Marconi and Hobson Handicaps at Auckland. At a recent meeting at Wayville (South Australia) one of the winners, Findon Machine (Findon Derby—Rose Machine), paid a dividend of over 600 to 1. Improving Sort Harmonist, one of the South Island team engaged at the Auckland meeting to-day, has won two of her five races this season and been placed in another. The first of her wins was in the Kingsdown Handicao at Timaru in January, when she beat Knocknagree and Stray Shot, her winning margin being three lengths. Her other win was in the first division of the Rimu Handicap, of one mile and five furlongs, at Greymouth last month. She won easily with a lot in hand. Harmonist is a five-year-old b.v Quite Sure.from Prestigena, and she is trained by J. Young at Addington She will be driven by R. Young. Sold to Australia The pacing stallion Superior Rank was sold recently to Mr A. A. Lord, of Melbourne. and will do stud duty in Victoria. Superior Rank is by Jack Potts from Quality, and he was raced from C. S. Donald’s stable. Melbourne Season The final meeting of the Melbourne trotting season was held on Easter Saturday night, and the attendance of 34,151 broke the previous record. One of the winners was the three-year-old colt Dillon Park, who was bred in New Zealand, being bv Dillon Hall from Christmas Rose by Travis Axworthy from Rosethorne, by Great Audubon from Sadie Dillon, by Harold Dillon. Dillon Park is a first foal.
