Ministerial The Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, and the Minister of Defence, Mr Jones, left by air yesterday morning for Wellington. S Mr P. G. Connolly, M.P., and Mr W A. Hudson, M.P., left the city by air for Wellington yesterday morning. Mr L. H. Frew has been appointed crier and custodian of the Supreme Court. He will begin his duties shortly. Regret at the death of Mr E. H. Murney, of Tapanui, a foundation member of the council, was expressed at a meeting of the Royal Agricultural Society at Gore yesterday. Miss Ailsa Miller, who has been nursing at Moorfield’s Royal London Ophthalmic Hospital, passed her examination in April and has been awarded an Ophthalmic Certificate of nursing and the Moorfield Medal. Miss Miller received her general training at the Dunedin Public Hosital. Mr C. T. Aschman, 0.8. E., of Christchurch was yesterday elected a life member of the New Zealand Educational Institute. He is the eighth life member to be elected in the 66 years the institute has been in existence. Bishop and Mrs W A. R. Fitchett left yesterday morning for Wellington to attend the Anglican General Synod, which opens next Monday Others who have left to attend the synod are Canon A. B. Pywell, Canon W. A. Curzon-Siggers, Mr R. S. Burt, Mr R. S. Parent, Mr J. T. Dawson, Rev. A. J. T. Fraser (Invercargill), and Mr M. H. R. Jones (Oamaru), and Mr A. T. Newman (Gore).
