New Zealand Press Association—Copyright Rec 1.15 a.m. LONDON, May 11. W. A. Hadlee again won the toss for the New Zealand cricket team, third match of the English tour, against Surrey at the Oval, remaining well pleased with his habitual call of “ tails.” B. Sutcliffe and V. J. Scott began with a will putting on 32 runs in the first half-hour, and being in no way troubled by A. Bedser and Cox, the latter playing his second game for Surrey. The wicket is easy-paced and appears full of runs under a cloudless sky.

New Zealand only just -raised 11 men for its_ first match in London. J. A. Cowie, G. O. Rabone and J. Reid were indisposed with stomach trouble. Rabone having to take to his bed immediately on the team’s return from Worcester. * J. A. Hayes’s thumb was still very sore and tender from the catch he attempted off Perks at Worcester. Cowie is acting as twelfth man.
