Riccarton Jumpers For Wanganui
Special to the Daily Times CHRISTCHURCH, May 11. The weather conditions at Riccarton are very wintry. Heavy rain continued last night, with occasional changes to hail. Rain was falling this morning, and the training work was negligible. Only a few trainers patronised the tracks, many of the horses being left in their boxes. Conclusion, who has been sold by Mr J. B. Douglas-Clifford to the Riccarton trainer S. Barr, is a three-year-old gelding by Finis—Good Passage. He had three races last season, finishing with a second at his last appearance, while this season, in 11 starts, his form has been restricted to two thirds. E. J. Jennings has resumed work with Lady Melville. She will be taken along quietly, as she will not be required to race again until the Grand National meeting. E. Rosewarne has a trip in view this month to Wanganui, while he may extend the visit later to other North Island winter meetings. His intention is to race Glad Fox in steeplechas.es and Catterick Bridge in hurdle races, while Copper Coin may take on flat racing provided she trains on all right. L. J. Ellis has resumed charge of his team, after his Australian trip. He has four horses in work. Trafalgar Day, a sprinter by Beaulivre, is the only one who has raced. Personality is a three-year-old by Bulandshar—Smiling Personality, while Lady Goldwyn is a two-year-old by Gold Nib from Wyndale. The fourth member is the yearling colt by Columcille from Astarth.
