IMPROVED VALUES
PRICES OF FAT STOCK LOWER ENTRIES AT BURNSIDE The entries at yesterday’s Burnside sale were well below those of the previous week. This was no doubt due to the inclement weather. Values for fat cattle showed a sharp rise, while wethers which were also in short supply, showed a decided increase in values. Fat lambs were also in good demand, and had a particularly firm sale throughout. The entry of fat cattle numbered approximately 250, compared with 420 last week. The bulk of the yarding was average sorts with an increased number of light-weight cattle, there being practically no consignments of extra choice quality offered. Bidding was keen from the outset and continued fairly constant throughout, with a further improvement during the concluding races. The increase in values on the average was fully 30s a head above last week. The demand for cows was below that of previous sales, and the quality was only ordinary. With the short yarding of wethers to hand, bidding for these was also keen and values showed an improvement of 5s to 6s a head on the previous week. Likewise, in this section, the entry was
